Michele McNiff: Nurse Navigator
Michele McNiff is on the front lines of creating a new paradigm for health care. As the first nurse Care Navigator hired by the California Schools Voluntary Employee Benefits Association (VEBA) Resource Center, McNiff is using her extensive background as a holistic registered nurse, integrative nurse coach, registered yoga instructor, healing and touch practitioner, and natural chef to help VEBA members become well-educated advocates for their well-being. One is a cancer survivor. A second has undergone two heart surgeries. A third has had four shoulder operations. All three are now VEBA Resource Center health coaches who are taking their experiences and extensive background in nutrition, mobility, and fitness to help others succeed in their journey toward health and wellness. Leslie Myers: Chef
Leslie Myers is changing lives through food. A critical ingredient at the VEBA Resource Center in Mission Valley, the professional chef and former restaurant owner conducts cooking classes and healthy eating demonstrations both at the Resource Center and throughout the San Diego Unified School District. The reception has been as welcoming as an ice cream sundae on a hot summer day. Read more |
